The Word of Promise’s – “The Gift Of Psalms” (New King James Version) is published by Thomas Nelson
Publishers. Fifty favorite Psalms are given, not all in their entirety, along with a devotional and prayer for each one. The devotionals are very well written and challenging.
Psalm 112, which starts out with, “Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments,” has a prayer that goes with it that especially caught my interest. “Lord, thank You for choosing to use me, an imperfect servant. I desperately need You to fill me with Your gifts so that I can reflect Your glory to the world around me. I want to be like the person in this psalm. And until You call me home to be with You, I pray that You would continue to work in me and through me.”
“The Gift of Psalms” also includes 3 CD’s that is from a Dramatic Audio Theater. Thirty of the Psalms in the book are read by different ones who read the Psalm, devotional and the prayer. In the background gentle music is playing. Some of the readers include: Richard Dreyfuss, Jesse McCartney, Marcia Gay Harden, Malcolm McDowell, Joan Allen and others.
This book would make a very nice present to give to those needing encouragement, help, blessings, love, peace, etc. It would be great for just relaxing and enjoying God’s Word from the Psalms.

Hi,
Thanks for this post. I’ve been looking for great christian books and i’ll surely look this one up…. Pierce by the Word by john Piper is a good one too!
I’ll have to check that out. The 3 CD’s would be nice for the car.
One of my currently favorite books is Sparkling Gems from the Greek by Rick Renner. It’s a daily devotional surrounding Scripture that goes into depth using Greek word studies. Of course the Bible is my first devotional, but this book is a wonderful ad-on.
