The Families here are based on the I.O.C., 3.3 version of 2013. It lists 40 Orders, 231 Families (plus 6 Incertae Sedis), and 10,476 individual Species in 2,268 Genera. There are 20,9992 subspecies and 145 extinct species now listed.
All the Indexes are now up to date and it makes it easier to find them with the Alphabetical List of the Birds. (The use of your “Search” or “Find” on your browser is very useful on long lists. “Control + F” is the shortcut for Find. I use it quite frequently.)
