The Eagle is an interesting bird and I have written about them before. In the King James Version of the Bible, an eagle is mentioned in 34 verses. So, there will be future articles about the eagle also.

The interest of this article is the renewing of the eagle. In Psalms 103:5 (quoted above), your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. What exactly does that mean? Also, in Isaiah 40:31, strength is renewed and “shall mount up with wings as eagles.”

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 KJV)

Many articles can be found on the internet about an eagle going off and plucking its feathers and not being able to fly for about five months. The image has even been added that the beak and claws are knocked off and then grow back during that time, giving them another 10 or so more years to their life. I have been trying to find proof of that, and am not finding it. Most Eagle authorities state that that would not happen, because the bird would die during that time with no flight feathers or beak or claws.

If those facts are true, then what is meant by God’s Word about the eagle? I believe God’s Word is true, so there has to be an explanation of it. From the Southwestern Bald Eagle Management I found an interesting chart that shows the different stages of plumage (feathers) as an eagle ages.  They said, “In their five year development to adulthood, bald eagles go through one of the most varied plumage changes of any North American bird. During its first four weeks of life, an eaglet’s fluffy white down changes to a gray wooly down. At about five weeks, brown and black feathers begin to grow. It becomes fully feathered at 10 weeks of age. In its first year, the mostly dark-colored juvenile can often be mistaken as a golden eagle. However, the bald eagle progressively changes until it reaches adult plumage at five years. Notice in the pictures how its dark eye lightens throughout its first four years of life until it becomes yellow. Also, see how its beak changes form gray-black to a vibrant yellow.

It is believed that the darker, more mottled plumage of a young eagle serves as camouflage, while the white head and tail announce that it is of breeding age.”

That to me sounds a lot like, “So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” As the eagle goes through the different stages of its life, the new feathers are graciously provided by a Creator that sees to the needs of His creation by having designed those features to renew as it matures.

The Lord provides for renewal for His children as they mature. The following verses tell of a renewed right spirit, mind, spirit of your mind, and knowledge:

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalms 51:10 KJV)
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2 KJV)
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; (Ephesians 4:23 KJV)
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (Colossians 3:10 KJV)

  12. I am encouraged by your comments about the eagle. As I read the word I am reminded that I can be renewed with the Youth of an eagle. That is encouraging since I am 66 and have another 33 years or more left in my life.

  14. I recite Psalm 103:1-5 nearly every day, and have for years. Here is what it means to me, at this point. Blessing the Lord helps to renew us. He forgives all our sins, but we have to quit doing them and then He heals everything that makes us uneasy. He redeems us from all the trouble we have gotten in to. His steadfast love and mercy give us power and He satisfies us with good as long as we live. We must be satisfied with the good He grants us and not demand fast food, entertainment, and the many other worldly “pleasures.” If we are satisfied with good each day, we will be renewed each day as Moses and Enoch were. We will be fully functioning, strong people. I lived in Alaska for many years and have seen dozens, if not hundreds, of eagles. I have seen juveniles and adults, but never “:elderly” eagles. They seem to live strong until they die. May all of us who meditate on God’s Word do the same. My thanks to all of you for sharing your insights. Fellowship is a wonderful gift.

  19. I thought I want to check about wether eagles renew their feathers ,but, I realize this bird is amazing to captivate and put it in the word of God! And your articles put an amazing facts! The same is true with me, Perhaps, After a few years of being freed from cancer and I was thinking of my feather is growing, I am ready to fly to freedom wherever the Lord wants me to go whatever height or depths, I will go as the Lord commands me to do so!

  25. I am going to be 60 years old in a couple of months’ time. No one believes that, they say I look anything between 38 to 45.
    I read psalm 103 a while ago and I do believe that when you turn your life over to God He will restore what you have lost. He is a fair and just God.
    I was in a turbulent marriage for almost 20 years and did all I could to salvage it but finally it crashed. God is my Judge.
    I find this passage very interesting and will be testifying to it.

    • God Bless you. I too will be 60 this year. I leave behind 2 broken marriages. Married for the third time and now living on the Med. coast of Spain. Very happy despite 33 years of progressive multiple sclerosis which at times has left me bedridden. These verses from Psalms were given to me in 1983 for my condition and I have held to them eversince. Take heart and have faith!

  26. Lee, Thank you for the time that you put into research. The Lord has been dealing with me concerning Ps. 103:5. I have been diagnoised with acute arthritis in both knees and I experience a lot pain when I stand or walk. I am considering injections in my knees (HYALGAN) This is natural substance that comes from the comb of a rooster. I am asking God if this what I should do or should I wait for Him. I am over 60 yrs. old but I believe that He wants to renew my youth like the eagle. Thank you for the encouragement. Francine

    • Lord bless you, Rita, as you seek his leading in what you should do. Seeing that I am older than you, you might want to read Isaiah 40:31 closely. It mentions renewed strength, but not as youth necessarily. I was down to a wheel-chair almost 10 years ago, but I am now only using a cane and going birdwatching. My strength has been greatly renewed, but… I am 72. I will be praying for you, Rita.

  28. Thank you for pondering this question. I was meditating on this same verse and am grateful for other thoughtful saints that take time to research and further fortify the faith. I still want to see more though on the topic. Perhaps you should focus on the Middle East eagles which is what the Psalmists would have been familiar with.

    I am in the process of preparing a lay Sermon on the subject of Renew. I have researched several Scriptures comparing the eagle with humans. I have read John Burke’s book titled Imagine Heaven. I would be thrilled to hear from anyone who has had a Near Death Experience (NDE) to relate if they experienced a renewal when they returned to earth life.

        I can only believe through faith. I am currently following a Brand new treatment for multiple sclerosis and I have already noticed the clock moving back. Is this not the renewal of youth spoken of in the Bible? Nobody said it would be instant, did they. If it takes years or a momento, that is Gods decisión in my book!

Your faith in our Great Healer is always the correct way to go.There may be a few bumps along the way, but our Lord will always be right beside you, maybe even carrying you at times.     Lee, I believe GOD will not let anybody see the renewing of the Eagle because people would interfere with the process. If you can see the new feathers and beck why can’t it happen the way other people see it. If it is not seen they would say it didn’t happen, GOD don’t let us see everything we wouldn’t have any FAITH!!!!!!!

  34. I got this from another sight, whatdoesthebiblesay.net . The appearance of being sickly helped me under stand this article better. At about five years of age, the eagle will begin going through a molting process where it loses most of its feathers only to be replaced by new feathers. This gives the appearance of renewed youth in the eagle. During this molting process, the eagle will look sickly and weak, but as the process completes the eagle has the look and feel of renewed strength and energy.

    • Thanks for the info. We recently saw a couple of eagles going through that 5 year molt and they did look very sickly. When I saw them later, they were at the zoo, then they looked great and had full white heads.

  35. I enjoyed your article and the picture’s. I might mention from a medical point of view, I’m not sure of all the data but I believe it says we renew all our cells every five years, this is gradual like the moulting of the birds. And the satisfying of our mouth I believe would be not only the word in our heart, (feeding our spirit) but also from that which we eat, that brings satisfaction, and renewal. My God is an awesome God,

Thanx lee.amazing what the bible says.its so true.it is happening to my friend.like the eagle flying to a high place for renewal.I watched him go to a different city and after 5 months, a guy who almost died of frustrations comes back so full of energy and ready to move on.I guess new feathers and a new beak.

  41. I too have heard a magnificent teaching long before the internet; that the eagle went to a remote place where there he had water. He plucked out wings and dashed beak to break it off and waited til it grew back. The eagle’s fellow eagle friends faithfully watched over him and dropped him food until beak and feathers grew back. The beauty of the teaching lay in the practice of the eagle’s faithful friends and that is so picturesque of God’s prinicples of we are a body and we need each other. However, I have not found this confirmed anywhere. Plus it has been too long ago to trace my sources and resources. Selah.
    I would love to confirm these final principles of the Body of Christ pictured in the eagles friends that are so like God. Appreciate any further confirmations.

    • Carol, thanks for commenting. I cannot find any reference to an eagle loosing its beak and still being able to live. I know it is great to make an analogy, but this one is hard to prove.
      We are all suppose to help those in need, and that is true.

I have heard that some eagles will become lazy and walk on the ground like a chicken if they find enough food they will continue , until their beaks become croded with calcium deposits and the food is gone and they can longer eat , so they lose their strength . Some of the other eagles that have been in their position before will drop food down to them . If they eat enough to get thir strength back they will fly again , if not hey will die. They say only 2 out of 5 eagles in that position will persevere and try to eat enough to get strength back. If hey make it they will later help another eagle in that position . I am one who believes that God will renew our physical bodies if we ask and believe .

  46. I know almost nothing about the eagle, but I think hornbill behaves a bit like the the bird mentioned in the Bible. Before laying its eggs the female hornbill plucks feathers to make its nest and it will not fly again until its chicks are ready to fly. The female hornbill will grow its feathers along with its chicks fed by the hard working and caring father hornbill and when the chicks are ready to fly, together they will fly out from its nest. Amazing bird. I don’t about the behavior of the other subspecies but the hornbill from our region (north east India) behaves like mentioned above.

  47. I also have heard when the eagle stops flying due to depression or lack of strength due to not eating,calcium deposits build on their beaks , because the high flying keeps it off. That they do have to beat the deposits off of their beaks when they are strong again.

  51. In the Middle East and Africa there is a Holy Religious Teaching about Eagles, common among Jews and Christians and Muslims, that I find no where in English, and the electronic Translators do not Translate it well, though it is commonly used of Politicians and Governments.

    They count the dirty feathers of an Eagle to be the sins of man. In their Counties next the Seas, when Eagles get dirty feathers making them sick, they fly high above the Sea, and dive down into the water stripping off all the dirty feathers. Then the Eagle climbs upon the sand, and grows new feathers.

    The Rabbis and Priests and Imams say to sinners and Politicians, be like the dirty Eagle, and grow new feathers, and become a clean Eagle, which to them means repent of your sins, like in baptism, and turn to God for guidance and strength.

    You will find images of the American Bald Eagle from the Middle East and Africa, having dirty feathers. They are saying to the US Government, your Secular Law has outlawed the Law of God, which is the Political Leaders sins that makes the US Government a dirty Eagle, and they are demanding that the US Politicians repent and turn to God

    The American Bald Eagle from the Middle East and Africa, having dirty feathers is also saying this, which in the Scriptures it is not translated very well into English Bibles. But this is also a Holy Religious Teaching about Eagles. People that are Dirty Eagles, meaning sinners, are often so blind to their own sins, that they think that their iniquity is righteousness, and they believe that they are so righteous that no one will be able to bring them down because God is on their side. But God always brings down those that are suchlike. That is used here in Obadiah about Edom which are descendants of Jacob;s brother Esau that dies violence into Jacob falsely thinking that he himself is righteous, which many are now saying about the USA.

    “The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord Yahweh concerning Edom, We have heard a rumour from Yahweh, and an ambassador is sent among the Nations, Arise you, and let us rise up against her in battle. Behold, I have made you small among the Nations, thou are greatly despised. The pride of your heart has deceived you, you that dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, that says in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Though you exalt yourself as the clean eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from thence will I bring you down, says Yahweh. :

    What a wonderful place of God Word & understanding of it.I had to wipe the tears of Joy to type,as I myself had need to understand this verse that I have said for years.I started saying this when I decided to stop drinking,and now sober 5 years,and pictures to show “My youth renewed like the Eagle”.I Believe!And now have a better understand of whats happening in my life.I pray now ,”God Bless all of you ,in Jesus Christ name,Amen”

  53. Lee, thanks for writing this article. I was just meditating this morning in Gods word and I noticed an enlightening. You see I have been depressed and overweight with 4 kids, the youngest being 3 yrs. old. I have felt that I was losing my quality of life and didnt really care much about living. I have had terrible insomnia and my mind has been in a cloudy state. I recently started the Gen 1:29 diet through “hallalujah acres” ministry. Immediatly I was able to sleep all night and ive lost weight. But this morning I noticed that I want to live and my mind is alert. I said as I prayed “Lord, it’s almost as if my youth is being restored”. I didn’t realize the connection between that scripture and the satisfying of my mouth until I looked it up. The same things happens to our bodies as we eat a raw food diet. the old dead cells are released and replaced with new healthier ones every minute. Over a period of time if we put living food into our bodies our whole body is made over and it’s gets healthier and healthier. Praise the Lord, we are fearfully and wonderdfully made!!! I feel like this is living the fasted life and that i can do things again that I only did in my youth.

  56. The much used comparison of an eagle pulling out its feathers and breaking off its beak to be “renewed” is a myth that has roots in past centuries. It is a myth that has no scientific basis. Eagles do not pull out all their feathers, or their talons or beaks. They would be dead. On the other hand, the natural molting process that really does occur is a good picture of spiritual renewal.

    The feathers of the eagle (and all birds) are replaced on a systematic and ongoing process. As the eagle matures (grows older) the frayed and damaged feathers are systematically replaced with fresh new clean feathers that enable the eagle to continue to soar and fend for itself.

    The analogy with our youth being renewed like the eagle, is an analogy of spiritual, not physical renewal. Like the molting of feathers, our maturity is an ONGOING and SYSTEMATIC process. As we are in continuous relationship with God, our spiritual youth (vitality) is continually being renewed by him, allowing us to continue to soar with Him. Our relationship does not grow old and frayed and worthless. If we are in relationship with Him our spiritual enthusiasm will constantly be renewing.

    This does require the letting go of those things (feathers) that have competed their usable lifespan and embracing the new revelations from God that will continue to allow us to soar with renewed spiritual fervor, so that we continue to draw nearer to Him. Holding on to dirty worn out feathers is what hampers so many in their spiritual “flight”.

  58. I believe our youth fails because we don’t eat right. I am just thinking that he satisfies our mouth with good satisfying food and as a result, our youth is
    renewed. However I don’t know how the eagle eats so that information would clarify or cloud this interpretation. comment, anyone? I am old and wanting my youth renewed,I have a reason for waiting to walk through those gorgeous pearly gates.I I have been taught that waiting on the Lord is an active waiting in prayer.

  60. Let us look at our own transformation. As you get older in life, does your body not change?, does your hair not change?, etc. Our transformation can be related to the eagle. Just remember whether eagle or man/woman our bodies & our lives go through transformation, BUT the key is, if you keep “looking up”…you will soar just like an eagle with God’s strength, love, kindness, mercy…If you are still here, you have been Blessed.   62. Good morning Lee…great article! I have been saying this scripture for a long time…and early this morning God gave me a revelation about this verse. Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. God told me that the good things that He satisfies your mouth with is… revealed knowledge or a Rhema word… a word straight from him. He said that he has already built into the human body the ability to renew or restore itself, such as when we burn or cut ourselves. But since we are really Spirit beings having an human experience, we have the ability to confess to greater opportunties such as renewing a decaying body. He even told me that He wants his people to think “out of the box” and even believe Him for new body parts. As Jesus stated “Ask the Father “anything” in my name and He will give it to you”. I know that this sounds way out there or tooooo good to be true, but I have a personal relationship with the Father and know His voice. Blessings to you!

    • I’m with you here! Jesus is the High Priest of our confession! James states that if we control out tongue, then we are able to control our whole body!!! If God can restore withered hands thru Jesus when He walked the earth, then He can and will certainly do the same thru those who bear His NAME in the earth today! We receive according to OUR FAITH!   64. Because God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can think, I believe God can renew our youth lke the eagles– restore our physical bodies as well as our spirtual selves. Nothing is impossible with God — only believe. So if we believe that Jesus is the same today, yesterday, and forever, then any part of our physical bodies can be restored to its youth.     Thanks for the article. it is very enriching. when the young of the eagle leaves the nest and heads down and before it crushes the ground the mother eagle reaches it and carries it on her wings, what about our God our creater who knows our every thought and being? Our great God our every step and when we are in very difficult situations and feel like we are heading to the ground God is always there to save us. if an eagle can be so timely and not let her baby crush, what about our God. Lets trust him with all we have.

  69. Thank you much for your article. I have attended a conference recently and they shared about the eagle renewal per Ps. 103. I have been so fascinated with that story. I remembered to research it and here your article is so full for me. You don’t mind if I shared your fascinating discovery with my study group….I have been released from so many things that did not come from God (being renewed in my mind, aligning with God’s thoughts and ways about Him, myself and others] when He created me and I have received comments of my face glowing and that I look like 20 years younger without them knowing what was happening [the process that God is taking me through].     WORD OF GOD Is amazing and wonderful and beyond our wisdom and knowledge.As i have one thro’ renewing the youth as eagles as mentioned in Psa 103:5, By the revelation of Word of God, I bring forth as follws:
    When eagle breaks its beak by hitting to a rock.
    ROCK is nothing but JESUS CHRIST AND WORD OF GOD. Eagles beak is being broken and new beak grows. When in your youth if your are broken completely by the Word of God your youth is renewed or new life starts in Jesus Christ. Pl read Psa 51:17. May God bless you.

    I also I had to research the matter when I read the story about the eagle plucking out its beak and then talons and finally feathers – yet again! And so I found your blog! I am also thrilled someone is looking into the matter and researching it. My one feeling after reading all these entries and your answers… the word of God is true – there is a renewing , as the eagle’s! – it is worth researching – and greater truth will be yet found. In the meantime, we can believe it!

  72. Just came from the doctor’s office with some sobering news. However, I believe in a healing Jesus! I quoted those verses in Psalm 103 to my wife. We have both experienced miracles and expect another one. We recalled some wonderful teachings on the eagle, so to the computer we went to see what Google might turn up. Now I’ve discovered your article and all the discussions it has engendered. One conclusion you have all come to: God does renews our youth!     • I changed the title, but was told by the photographer that it was a juvenile Bald Eagle. The Golden Eagle and the young Bald look very similar. This bird has more yellow in the eye than a Golden, but It is only one photo. Wish more have been photographed.

    I love your intensity and passion in disclosing the truth about the eagle as God presents it in His Word because it causes us to pause, think, consider, research, meditate and finally apply His Word to our lives, so that our strength will be renewed like the eagles and we will “soar on wings like eagles; ….run and not grow weary, walk and not be faint.” Psalm 103 is one of my favorites and I have used it to bless many a bride and groom!
    An old Indian folktale I heard was that strange things happen to eagles at times and they become depressed. There is nothing physically wrong with them; they do not know why. When they are depressed like that they do not want to eat, fly or do anything and if they stay in that depressed condition they will die. When these eagles have died the Indian’s would place a marker at the place of their death as a memorial. The most amazing thing happens at times when other eagles see the depressed eagle just sitting there ready to die. Some of the eagles will tear meat from a prey they have caught with the blood dripping down, and they will fly over the depressed eagle so that they will catch a new scent of life. [Ref: “Daily Inspiration With Sigi” by Sigi Oblander, ISBN: 0-620-28072-7; pg 294-295]
    Many of God’s people are like those depressed eagles having lost the joy of life. Jesus’ blood flowed out over us so that we might have a new desire to live, a new desire to embrace our destiny for such a time as this, to fulfill all that God wants for our lives.
    My sole desire as a follower of Christ is to fulfill the 2 greatest commandments in my life…..and my joy will be full.

    • Thanks, Marge, for commenting and for the folktale. It is very interesting. Yes, we shouldn’t become depressed, but it happens. We can stay in that state, or we can “turn our eyes upon Jesus”, as the song goes, and look in His Word, and put our trust in Him. This world is always going to present challenges, but we have a Saviour who can, if we let Him, help us out of our situations and so much more.

  78. The eagle in Hebrew is also metaphoric and symbolic of God.
    To have ones youth renewed like the eagle is metaphorically to be “renewed” restored, to our original state of perfection and strength in the Lord before mankind sinned.
    God created mankind in His own image.

    The Hebrew word translated as “youth” means “early life.” The “early life” of mankind is the life before sin. It is Life in the image and likeness of God.

  79. The “Youth” which is renewed is the Spiritual “Youth” which we were created with in the beginning. God created us perfect as the Father is perfect. That is our original state and that is what is renewed.
    Earthly fleshly “youth” is never renewed but always passes away.
    Foolishness passes away as wisdom is renewed and increases.
    Immaturity passes away as maturity is renewed and increases.

Thank you for this wonderful article on the Eagle, this helped me with my research on the scripture Isaiah 40:31, I was studying this passage to teach at a class at my church, the Eagle’s renewal process in this article gives a lot of insight on this scripture and support the Word of God on our renewal process it also validates the necessary every Christian to be patient (wait) on the Lord so he can renew (replace that which is broken or worn out) that shows the growth and maturity of a believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  81. I just wanted to comment as I was looking thru this reasearch on Eagles. My interest in it was because God had placed a burden in my heart to do a Conference or Bible study on restoration in what at one point or another as Christians find ourselves in that situation. At this it can be very painful when we go thru this process because I believe that God is maturing us at this point. The eagles maturity process is so much in comparison to ones Christians walk. I know for a fact that when Isaiah was speaking he had to use the eagle according to ones own experiences the Bible is full of ones own experiences. That’s why it speaks to our lives so much and why we should apply it to our lives. I have a question, do you think perhaps that as the eagle matures its already being in a painful process thru out the first few weeks and yrs of its life just cause of all its changes so rapidly and short time.Its just like a woman going thru menopause everything changes from inside out and is a very hard and emotional process that one has to face.And that also happens at an older age when going thru that they also go back to feeling younger and dressing younger at times. Perhaps Isaiah seen something in the eagle that we or researchers will never know it also could of been a vision from God . God works are mysteries and of course he never makes a mistake.

  82. Nice article but I think it is important to consider the word “wait” as referenced in Isaiah 40: 31 in providing an insight into what is meant by the eagle’s renewal. Waiting talks of an activity as being carried out by an Eagle prior to its renewal. It is not an automatic process that comes with aging as your article suggests. If all eagles automatically gets renewed just by divine providence, then we can expect this process to happen to us naturally too without any need to “wait on the Lord”. When we wait on the lord as a self chosen activity, we allow the Lord to satisfy our mouth with good things or in other words to fill our mouth with abundance of life,(remember the power of life and death are in the (tongue) mouth) then our youth is renewed like that of the eagle as we speak wholsome words in confessions, prayers and declarations. While I do not fully subscribe to the myth of the eagle going to a solitary place, moulting and smashing its beak and talons in order to be renewed, I think there is an activity that an eagle engages in that is similar to “waiting” for Isaiah to have made such a comparison. Please keep up the good work and do update us with findings of your further researc

  83. For me this article is nice in that it gives some description of the process of the Eagles life. However this does not answer the question for me based on the following points.

    1: The Bald Eagle – native to North America – not sure that the Lord would use an analogy implicating a species of bird that was not known in the “Old World” .

    2: While the article discusses the aging and maturing of the birds – (people age and mature too) but the renewing of youth this is in my opinion different than maturing.

    There is some nice information in the article about the myths and the actual aging that Eagles go through. I wonder if there was a commonly held (true – belief ) about Eagles in the times of Isaiah or the psalmist for why the analogy would be used. I believe that there has to be a truthful reference to something more than the stages of life as it deals specifically with the youth being renewed . Perhaps something modern researchers have yet to discover, and of course it would not be the first time that has happened!

    • Thanks, Ken for leaving some thoughts on the eagle. Will have to research further on Old World eagles. The idea of their beaks falling off is mainly what I was questioning. We will never know all about the eagles, only their Creator knows that, but we keep trying to learn as much as is possible.

    • I have looked into the other eagles around the world, and none of them go through the “renewal” that is referred to in story that has been passed on and on. At least not that I found.

  85. Thanks for the post. I was becoming dismayed that there were so many other posts out there that put up myth for fact and bore relation to observational science.
    It would seem that the myth of the eagle going to a solitary place, moulting and smashing its beak and talons has a medieval origin. There are other ancient accounts of what people though happened to eagles – often looking for the explanation of various biblical passages in the imagination of the writers than from life. Unfortunately it has become a self perpetuating chain of evidence, each writer quoting the other to back up their, unfortunately, false evidence.
    I am glad to find someone else who has the desire and actually takes the time to do the research.

  88. i believe it is the same research of the eagle going to the high mountain and sheeding all its feathers and allows it to renew itself is what led me to this site. i believe there should be an information of that sort somewhere or if not, why then do people use that reference? i used it recently but thought i could not only depend on what i hear but research to find the truth and then you said the same. where then did people get this informatiom? and how did it become a popular christian reference to this particular text? I be very grateful if i find out the truth about the “…..OUR YOUTH BEING RENEWED LIKE THE EAGLE’S….” verse.

    • The explanation that I gave has settled it for me. I think as the eagle goes through his different stages he is renewed. Most birds do not have as many changes as the eagles. The Lord is capable to do to the eagle like the belief about it totally going through a renewal in older age, but I did not find any written accounts of it.
      What I said, makes sense to me. “That to me sounds a lot like, “So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” As the eagle goes through the different stages of its life, the new feathers are graciously provided by a Creator that sees to the needs of His creation by having designed those features to renew as it matures.
      The Lord provides for renewal for His children as they mature. The following verses tell of a renewed right spirit, mind, spirit of your mind, and knowledge:
      Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalms 51:10 KJV)
      And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2 KJV)
      And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; (Ephesians 4:23 KJV)
      And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (Colossians 3:10 KJV)”

    • I read that it’s a orientalism used in the Bible, that it’s a Hindu practice too….so check into how the Hindu’s believe that the Eagle renews it’s youth and how it relates to the individual believer. It may interest you

  89. Excellent! I’ve been reading Psalm 103 a lot, but recently I have been meditating even more in verse 5.
    Understanding the eagle’s external changes (feathers) as the eagles matures, it helped me to understand that as God satisfies my mouth with good things,
    ‘ ..For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks..’ ( Mathhew 12:34 SPIRIT FILLED BIBLE)

    I’ll will get external changes too! My physical body will be aligned with the Word of God! Hallelujah!
