Birds in Hymns
“His eye is on the sparrow”
“Each little bird that sings,”
“And every bird and every tree,”
“Birds with gladder songs o’erflow, flowers with deeper beauties shine”
Those are words from some of the hymns. Do you know where they came from? I gave you the first one.

I have a bird that sings outside my window every morning as the sun rises and as the sun goes down. I finally saw it is a male cardinal. I went to look for a nest and there was none. Do they ever build nest under a house? God told me that it is a gift from Him. One day I forgot to set the alarm so the cardinal woke me up and I got to work on time.

I love this post! Each year we study one of the days of creation and I choose a hymn a week to go along with our theme. It’s been wonderful to discover new hymns that I never would have heard otherwise.

Thank you. It is amazing how many birds are mentioned in the hymns and the Bible, of course.

I pray for Lee today thanking God for Jesus’ sacrifice and death on a cruel cross.
Yes He bore all our sicknesses and diseases. More, He carries us in His heart and has inscribed our names on the palm of His hands. Jesus will be with you
Lee. As well as “north winds’ that blow on our lives, for you Lee, there will
come a healing “south wind ” Peter England

Thank you, Peter, for you prayers. I also like your “north and south winds”. I know He is with me, but thanks for the reminder of how close I am to Him.

Here’s a hymn that makes reference to birds:
THIS IS MY FATHER’S WORLD
Verse2:
This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise,
The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world: He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.
Verse 3 has a good message:
This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done:
Jesus Who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and Heav’n be one.

His Eye Is On the Sparrow sung by Babie Mason is what I run to every time I feel myself getting down. I have used the video on all 4 of my blogs from Sister Act 2 so younger people can be introduced to the old hymn originally sung by Ethel Waters. It’s a masterpiece!
