Thanks for looking out for the sea gulls, Lee! By the way, in an article I wrote a while back ( http://www.icr.org/article/survival-fitted-Gods-providential-programming/ ) there is some info on the arctic tern. Anyone who appreciates sea gulls should appreciate the migratory cycle of the arctic tern! Wow! In my birding years perhaps the most memorable gull/tern watching I’ve done was in Reykjavik, Iceland. The gulls and terns swarm around the cruise ships and fishing boats that dock there, and these avain opportunists are obviously on the lookout for food morsels that frequently are to be found in port. Ironically, during VIking times the Norsemen would follow the flight of sea gulls (and other birds) to Iceland, knowing that the birds would eventually lead them to the shoreland. Nowadays the roles are reversed — the gulls and terns look for the ships heading to port, knowing that food can’t be far!
