Highlands Hammock is one of Florida’s oldest state parks in Florida. We enjoy visiting their Florida Scrub Jays and other birds. Their “scrub” area is being preserved especially for the Scrub Jays which are endemic to Florida. Scrub habitat has dwindled considerably in the past several decades as Florida has continued to develop.

The park also has a Cypress Swamp walk, along with other trails throughout to investigate.
