The Eider Duck – The cushion maker.. ~ by a j mithra
When constructing her nest,
a Female Eider Duck will line it
with soft down feathers
that she plucks from her own breast.
This gives the eggs
the best possible cushioning and insulation.

Jesus didn’t pluck His down feathers,
but, plucked Himself from heaven
and came down to give His whole life
to cushion and insulate our lives..
So that we may hatch to become
more like Him to do His will
in our lives on earth as it is in heaven..

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8)

  1. Lee, this is so good. Thank you for sharing it. It’s almost a shame that such a beautiful duck should be named “Common” anything, isn’t it? And I am surprised at myself, because I have heard and talked about eiderdown all my life, but never even thought about it coming from the feathers of a duck by that name. Well, duh!!! I’m so glad you posted this.

Sorry I haven ‘t visited much. My work load has been enormous at my job recently, and we rushed my dad to the hospital recently as well — pretty serious. But he is home now and feeling good, so I’m looking forward to getting back to visiting a lot.

I am also thinking about moving most of my blogging to “Blogger.” I’m having a terrible time getting large, easily-read font on my sites here, and all WP says is that if I want better font, I’ll have to learn how to deal with HTML code and use it all the time. I’m not even going there, because my life is way to busy now. I think it’s important to write the things and post them, but if I have to learn a whole new level of technology as well, I don’t think it’s worth it, considering all my other responsibilities. With “Blogger” I can change my font size and my layout the way I want it, with no problems. And I also think their free blog sites are without advertisements. We don’t see the ads on our own WP blogs, but they are sometimes on there for other people to see.

Also, my main reason for choosing WP was that they offered very accessible tech help. But for the past few months, no matter how often I click on “Contact Support,” I can’t connect with a real tech — only some forum, where everyone can post and express a dozen ideas that may or may not help. Blogger doesn’t have any better tech support, but I don’t have a good reason to stay here anymore. I’m going to check some things out and see if I can keep contacting all of you guys on here and interacting. I should be able to. I’ll try sending you a message soon from my new experimental site. It will say it’s from “Pick A Peck Of Poems.”

    Blessings on you and hubby.
