Nuggets Plus – Variety

Today while doing my daily reading , I came across two verses that caused me to think about the varieties of birds and our talents.

And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD. Here are the divisions of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God; and every willing craftsman will be with you for all manner of workmanship, for every kind of service; also the leaders and all the people will be completely at your command. (1 Chronicles 28:20-21 NKJV)

David was handing over the kingdom to Solomon, his son, who was young. David had wanted to build a temple for The LORD, but was told no, but that Solomon would be the one to build the temple.

Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) at Bok Tower By Dan’sPix

David is explaining this to Solomon and the people of Israel. He was encouraging his son and also the people and reminding them of these promises from God:

  • Be strong
  • of good courage
  • do it
  • not fear
  • nor be dismayed
  • LORD God—my God—will be with you
  • not leave you
  • nor forsake you,
  • until you have finished all the work

Then in the next verse (21) he explains the different division (variety) of work to be done:

  • every willing craftsman
  • for all manner of workmanship
  • for every kind of service;
  • also the leaders and all the people will be completely at your command.

Isn’t it amazing when we see all the variety in the birds the Lord Created? They are all birds, but they vary so much in height, width, color, beaks, feet, behavior, the way and place they build their nest, etc, etc.

Blue-footed Booby (Sula nebouxii) by Ian

How about us? We are all different and each have different talents and abilities. Our interest vary. Many of our readers are bloggers, yet each of us do it differently.

Birdwatchers vary in how they view the birds. Some like to view the birds through a camera, binoculars, just their eyes. Some make list of all kinds, some never bother. There really isn’t a right way or wrong way to watch birds, unless you are doing something harmful to the birds.

In the Christian realm, again, we are all different and there is so much variety in our talents and abilities, yet the Lord gave them to us.

Are we willing to use them?

Trees Trees Trees – from AJMithra

Ark from trees for protection!

Branch from a tree to turn the taste of water!

Striped and spotted barks of trees

to change the colour of the sheep’s fur!

Two blocks of tree to hang Himself!

God calls us as trees!

What sort of tree are we?

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:3

How is That? ~ by ajmithra

Shark

Sharks would die
if they don’t swim continuously
when in water!
But how is that
most of us
are still alive in spite of
not swimming continuously
in the Living Water?

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:38)

not only brings food to feed
but also protects
while the female builds the nest!
God will not only feed
but also protect us
as we build His Kingdom!

No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, says the LORD. (Isaiah 54:17)

If the Coppersmith Barbet chicks

their parents will not allow them in!
If we don’t return
in to the kingdom early
would Jesus take us in?

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Mathew 25:13

Nuggets Plus – Watchout ~ by A J Mithra

Lee’s Addition:

What a beautiful bird, but also what a solemn warning.

The Coppersmith Barbet, Crimson-breasted Barbet or Coppersmith (Megalaima haemacephala), is a bird with crimson forehead and throat which is best known for its metronomic call that has been likened to a coppersmith striking metal with a hammer. It is a resident found in the Indian Subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. Like other barbets, they chisel out a hole inside a tree to build their nest. They are mainly fruit-eating but will take sometimes insects, especially winged termites. They belong to the Megalaimidae – Asian Barbets Family.

I found AJ’s remark about the youngster failing to get back to the nest on time interesting and found these remarks on Wikipedia.

Coppersmith Barbet (Megalaima haemacephala) by MAMuin

Coppersmith Barbet (Megalaima haemacephala) by MAMuin

Keeps solitary, pairs, or small groups; larger parties occasionally on abundantly fruiting Ficus trees. Fond of sunning themselves in the morning on bare top branches of tall trees, often flitting about to sit next to each other. The flight is straight, with rapid flaps.

They compete with other cavity nesting birds and frugivores. Megalaima asiatica have been noted to evict them from their nest holes, while Red-vented Bulbuls have been seen to indulge in kleptoparasitism, robbing the male of berries brought to the female at the nest.

The nest holes are also used for roosting and some birds roost alone in cavities and these often roost during part of the day. Immatures will roost with the parents but often return to roost early so as not to be prevented by the parents from entering the roost cavity.

Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. (Matthew 25:1-13 ESV)

Lee’s Addition:

Thanks, A J, your timing is perfect as usual. We just got back from a week and a half trip to Indiana. Praise the Lord for his traveling mercies and for all of you who were praying for us as we traveled 2,300 miles. Also, we had great weather. Only one rain storm for about 10 minutes which produced a beautiful rainbow in South Carolina. More about the trip that later.

The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth. (Genesis 9:16 NKJV)

It takes

one ounce of honey

to fuel a honey bee’s flight

around the world!

The name of the Lord is

sweeter than honey.

We have been eating

His words for so long…

But,

How much had it fuelled us

and how far have we travelled

For God’s sake?

How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! (Psalm 119:103)

Rooster – Stiff neck..?

Nuggets Plus

Nuggets Plus

Roosters need to fully extend its neck..
Or else, they would never
be able to crow..

Did God call those
who were not worshipping
as the stiff-necked I wonder..

Well, if we were crowing roosters,
we would be dawn worshippers for God,
and would be waking up those who are asleep
through our crowing, I mean singing…

By the way are we stiff-necked?

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. (Acts 7:51)

More of Him… ~ by ajmithra

When female Zebra Finches
have no option,
but to mate with an ugly male,
they tend to lay larger-than-normal eggs.
The researchers say,
that the females
are compensating
for the lack of its
genetic fitness of the father,
by giving their offspring
an egg containing
extra nutrients
and
more space to grow..

Jesus too compensated

  • for all our sins,
  • our shortcomings,
  • our pride,
  • our ego,
  • our ugly,
  • stinking life,

on the cross of Calvary,
so that we may
never feel weak again
and
we may have more of HIM
and less of I…

He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30 KJV)

Domestic hen’s egg has around 7500 pores.
The pores all over the body

three nails,

allows humanity to breathe life eternal…
Oh! What a loving God we serve!!

he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
>and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
