Adventurous Cattle Egret outside Wendy’s. When I pulled up to go into Wendy’s yesterday, this adventurous Cattle Egret decided to check my window. Later, as we were leaving, I noticed him riding on a man’s truck as he drove off. When the driver sped up, he finally hopped off.
If you notice the sign on the wall behind him/or her, it is Loitering.
We have written about these Cattle Egrets before, but this was a very close encounter. They love to ride on cattle or whatever critter they can catch a ride on and try to find food. Here are a few of previous photos of Cattle Egrets.
“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26 NKJV)
Some Previous Egret Posts:

Yesterday my wife and I were traveling (by car, with my wife driving, because I’m often distracted by birds — so it’s safer if my wife drives) on Texas roads that border farm fields and ranch ranges, occasionally seeing long-horned cattle and other bovine breeds. I none field I was pleasantly surprised to see small white birds foraging in the weeds near the bovine legs — cattle egrets (Ardea ibis, f/k/a Bubulcus ibis)! As the cattle meandering stir up the weeds, and thus the grasshoppers and other insects in those weeds — cattle egrets are on the alert for scurrying insects — and the cattle egrets snap them up! Of course, cattle egrets are also famous for eating bugs on the backs of bovines — benefiting both bovines and birds. Wow! That was a close encounter with a Cattle Egret! Just in case, I just walked over to where my car is parked, to see if any Cattle Egrets were on my car. So far none — but I’ll keep a watchful eye out for them. So, I’m guessing that the Lord sent that Cattle Egret to give you some encouragement.

Yep! He was definitely a surprise which gave us a chuckle. Had another one this morning, but with another bird. Stay tuned to find out about it. :)

How interesting Lee to see it take an interest in travelling on vehicles of a metal kind. Can’t imagine finding many insects there, though it may have seen its image in the glass, as we often see some of our smaller birds fighting images in our side rear vision mirrors. Our Cattle Egrets are in breeding plumage and nesting at the moment.
