True From The Beginning

Psalm 119:160 “Thy word is true from the beginning…”

January 1 is an exciting day for us birders. Our year list begins again and the hunt is on to list even those common visitors that often only get a passing glance as the year wears on. The checklist is blank and all the birds are “new”. And with the start of the New Year, many Christians begin another yearly reading plan. The Bible reading checkboxes are empty and race is on!

And where does that Bible reading plan typically start? At the beginning, with “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” With evolutionary theory now firmly programmed into our society, I often wonder Christians’ reactions when they open to the first chapter of the Bible. Do you believe these words?

As Christians that believe in the accuracy and inerrancy of the Word of God, we must, I repeat, we must make an uncompromising stand that in the beginning, God created the universe in six days. The evolutionary bombardment is not only an attack on the doctrine of origin, but an attack on the entire Bible and every doctrine contained therein. If the first sentence is false, why go on with the rest of the book?

Bible Genesis 1 In the beginning by WilliamWisePhotography

Bible Genesis 1 “In the beginning”

In this New Year, let us commit to a fresh, solid stance on the truth of creation; a doctrine so important that God placed it first in the Bible! We must hold an unwavering commitment that “His word is true from the beginning.” For if the first sentence of the Bible is incorrect, what does that mean for every sentence after that?

This is a few days past the new year, but this year is still new. Also, this message is appropriate for the whole year. I failed to see William’s email post sooner.

Walking Snowy Egret Showing Off Yellow Feet

Snowy Egret at Merritt Island NWR 1-1-2019 by Lee

Dan and I went over to the east coast of Florida during the New Year holiday. We were able to do some birdwatching at Viera Wetlands in Viera, Florida and also went to Merritt Island National Wildlife Reserve’s Black Point Dr. That is where I captured this Snowy Egret strutting with his yellow feet showing. Also saw the Snowy Egrets at Viera.

Many verses that refer to walking come to mind. Good reminders as we start the new year off. Here are a few of the verses:

“But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.” (Psalms 26:11 KJV)

“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.” (Psalms 84:11-12 KJV)

“Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.” (Psalms 86:11-12 KJV)

“They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.” (Psalms 119:3 KJV)

“Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.” (Proverbs 3:23 KJV)

Snowy Egret Viera Wetlands – 12-31-2018 by Lee

“Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:” (Isaiah 42:5 KJV)

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10 KJV)

Have You Seen These? Dubai’s New Year’s Celebration had 500,000 explosions. Guinness was there for a record event. The worlds tallest building is where most of these are going off from.

Happy New Year – First Bird for 2011?

Mourning Dove by Reinier Munguia

"And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest." (Psalms 55:6 KJV) Mourning Dove by Reinier Munguia

Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old. (Matthew 13:52 KJV)

Happy 2011 to all of you. As we start the New Year, lets keep the old things which were good and look forward to finding and doing new things. Like improving our walk with the Lord, but maintaining the good habits of Bible Study and serving the Lord. Also, improving our knowledge about God’s Creative Hand and not forgetting the things already learned. (At this stage of my life, that is becoming a challenge :o) ) Two of my goals for this year is to continue to improve this blog and most of all to serve my Lord better than before.

Turkey Vulture at Circle B by Lee

Turkey Vulture at Circle B 2010 by Lee

There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen: (Job 28:7 KJV)

When I got up this morning I started watching my bird feeder outside the bedroom window to see what the first bird of 2011 would be. Two Mourning Doves and then a Eurasian Collared Dove landed right behind them. Looks like the Doves have it for me. We then drove to Bartow, FL, 7 miles away, and started my birdwatching list for the year.

Boat-tailed Grackle at S. Lk Howard 2008 by Lee

Boat-tailed Grackle at S. Lk Howard 2008 by Lee

I think most of the birds either had a party or were sleeping in after all the fireworks and racket kept them awake during the night. We only spotted another Mourning Dove, a Boat-tailed Grackle and 2 Black Vultures on the way to town. On the way back, they had started waking up. We saw lots of Cattle Egrets, a Great Egret, a Mockingbird, two unknown Hawks and 300-400 Turkey and Black Vultures heading in a SE direction.

Would love to hear what your first birds of the new year are. How about leaving a comment and telling us about your first birds of 2011. Waiting to hear, Lee
