I just had the neatest experience. I had a few slices of old bread here, and I usually try to throw it out into the yard for the birds. I did that about 20 minutes ago, and just now I noticed a yard full of little baby birds going after it. I counted between 15 and 20 (they wouldn’t hold still long enough to get a better count, but I know I saw 15). They acted just like human kids do — as if they had been set free to run and play and find their own food for the first time. There is also a puddle at the edge of my drive (from last night’s rain), and they all alternated between picking up the bread and devouring it and playing in the puddle. I need new batteries in my camera, or I would have tried to get a picture, but I probably would have scared them off before I could have taken good aim.

That would have been neat to watch. We just had 10 finches hit our feeders about 15 minutes ago. I understand the migrations have begun. Yeah!

What a serene picture. Very relaxing.
And I do understand about going against the flow. Seems I’ve been doing that most of my life, and darn … it’s still hard!!!

Yes, it is hard at times. Especially with all this politically correctness being thrown at us.

That’s one reason I changed the subtitle of my blog to say that I was exceedingly politically INcorrect. I figure if people stop to read my stuff after that, then they’ve had fair warning.

Of course, that was just on my author’s blog. I figure people coming to “Hangin’ Out With God” should automatically expect political incorrectness. (Although, unfortunately, many churches and Christians are following the rest of the world too.)

Reminds me of how so many folks, Christians included (and all too often including Christian “leaders”), are merely “going with the (worldly) flow” — shame on them! [See “Culpable Passivity: The Failure of Going with the Flow”, posted at http://www.icr.org/article/culpable-passivity-failure-going-with/ .]

Clever illustration of “not with them” — and a nice photograph from Lake Morton!

Thanks. Not sure why that one was going the other way, but it brought that verse to mind. Seems like today, many Christians are trying not to go with the crowd, but many don’t succeed.
