“His eye is on the sparrow and I know he cares for me.” I grew up with the words to that song, which was my Mom’s favorite hymn, and they still mean a lot to me. I think about them whenever I take photos of sparrows.

“His Eye Is on the Sparrow” was authored by Civilla D. Martin in AD1905 (and the tune was provided by Charles H. Gabriel), and what a lovely song it is. Surely God’s detail-rich provisions for these little creatures—even “simple” sparrows—should encourage us to appreciate His providential care, tailored for each one of us who uniquely bears our Creator’s image and who has received God’s gift of redemptive life in Christ. (For more on that thought, see http://www.icr.org/article/7260/ .)
