And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. (Colossians 3:15 NKJV)

Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts. I never dreamed that when I went to the hospital last Thursday, 19th, that they would keep me a week.

Finally got released last evening. This was the worst case of bronchitis I have had to deal with. Was on oxygen the whole week. Many of you were praying for me and those prayers were felt. Our Lord is great.

Not only did I get “rest,” (who rest in the hospital?) but multiple opportunities came available to encourage others around me. We were originally suppose be at a Bible Conference this week in South Carolina, but had decided to stay home and watch some of it on Livestream. With Hospital internet and electronic gadgets, I saw more of the conference than if we had driven up. The Lord knew ahead of time all about what would happen here.

Did get in a few bird sighting out my window. Fish Crows, Ospreys and a Mockingbird flew by to make part of my day.

Will try to get some articles rolling again. Had two waiting to be worked up before I went to hospital, but just didn’t feel up to doing them. Will get Ian’s Bird of the Week out soon and have one waiting from James J S Johnson.

Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers. I still have more healing to do, but way on the mend.

Update – In Hospital

Duck slipping on Ice from the Telegraph

Oops! – (from the Telegraph)

Just an upstate. Was admitted to the hospital yesterday and they are going to keep me a few more days. The bronchitis is sever, but praise the Lord there is no pneumonia!

Thanks for those who have prayed for me, because they were felt, Especially when multiple needle attempts were made. I stayed calm while they made them.

Will be a few days with no blogs as sending from IPad not as easy, harder to do with photos. Please keep me in you prayers and thanks in advance.

Jesus Knocking at Door

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20 KJV)”

Merry Christmas to all our readers, visitors and writers of Lee’s Birdwatching Adventures Plus. I am no longer the only writer and all of us who are involved wish you the best Christmas ever.

My thanks go to Ian, Baron Brown (Golden Eagle), James J. S. Johnson, Emma Foster, Dottie Malcolm, and other guest writers. Also, thanks to Dan, of course, and for all the photographers who have given permission to use their fantastic photos.

The best Christmas present you can ever receive is to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. Have you put your faith and trust in the Lord and accepted Him?

Prayer Request – Eye Surgery Tomorrow

Bali Myna (Leucopsar rothschildi) by Lee

Bali Myna (Leucopsar rothschildi) by Lee

Thanks to all of you who kept me in your prayers 6 months ago when I had the “Pucker” on my retina removed. At that time, they said that for some reason cataract development would accelerate. Well, it did. Tomorrow morning, I will be having cataract surgery on my left eye. The retina has been healing for 6 months and the okay was given to have this surgery.

I am ready for it. I have seen “bi-winged” birds and extra stop lights, extra headlights on cars and other double “ghost images” because of the blurred vision. I have been struggling to see my monitor to produce my blogs. The size of the fonts has been increased to assist my ability to read the screen. Even with that, it has been challenging at times. Two blogs are scheduled; one for tomorrow and one for Tuesday. Hopefully, that will give time for this new surgery to heal.

I have also not visited as many of your blogs recently like I would have enjoyed because of this situation. Expect visits again, soon, Lord willing.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow, June 24th, if you think of it. I am not expecting any problems, but any surgery has risk. The Lord already knows the outcome and I am trusting Him to be right there with me through this.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; (Philippians 4:6 NKJV)

I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me. (Psalms 13:6 NKJV)

Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. (Psalms 34:3 NKJV)

And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:22 NKJV)

Anniversary and Other Things

Purple Gallinule Displaying at Lake Parker

Purple Gallinule Displaying at Lake Parker

Today is our 49th Anniversary. Wow! Doesn’t seem that long. We are thankful for the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us over those years. We have not been perfect, but we have tried to live our lives for Christ and honor Him. He, the Lord, has been very gracious to us over the years. Dan has been a super husband also. Wouldn’t trade him.

This along with some other things going on the last two weeks have kept my blog a little slow lately. Last week we rearranged the room where I do the blog and the computer was offline for a few days. This week has been photo taking for the Music Camp at church and Doctors appointments. On Tuesday I received news that my left eye has a problem. I know it has been blurring on me lately. That is my picture-taking eye. So, yesterday, it was off to an eye specialist to be examined further. Long story short, I have a pucker in my retina. For now it is on a watch mode for a few months. Needless to say, I have been a little edgy and blogging has not been on my mind. The news yesterday was encouraging and I know it is in the Lord’s Hands. Your prayers are appreciated.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)

Tricolored Heron Looking at Lake Parker Park

Tricolored Heron Looking at Lake Parker Park

We did get to go birdwatching for a few minutes last week and managed to see Ospreys, Mourning Doves, 15 Wood Storks, 4 Sandhill Cranes, 15 White Ibises, Double-crested Cormorants, Great Blue Herons, Anhingas, Red-winged Blackbirds, Great Egrets, Pigeons, Boat-tailed Grackles, 10 Tricolored Herons, Family of Common Gallinules, Blue Jay, Fish Crows, Rooster and 2 hens,  Limpkin, Purple Gallinules – one displaying (first time ever saw that happen), Cattle Egrets, Eurasian Collared Doves. Those are in the order spotted as we rode up to Lake Parker and then home.

Thanks for all of you who stop by the blogs. Your visits are appreciated and trust that you receive a blessing and the information you are looking for.

Wow! More Awards! Thank You

Wow! I just received another award today and I haven’t even written up my latest one before that yet. Been busy gearing up a new blog with will launch soon. Oops! That is still a “secret” for a few more days.

These are the Awards that have been given to me and links to their websites and some information about those blogs:

Creationscience4kids has just nominated me for the Reader Appreciation Award. That is a very neat site that:
“This is a site to celebrate the amazing world God made.  This site is for all of you who love to learn new things about nature and science without a bunch of big words.  This site is also to help us all understand the differences between evolutionary thinking and young earth creationist thinking.  This site believes that God spoke everything into existence in six 24 hour days as stated in Genesis 1 and that the wold that then was perished in the global flood of Noah’s day as II Peter 3:6 says.

Seasonsgirl nominated me for the Inspiring Blog Award. She is a “I am a Christian, working wife, and puppy mom living with my husband, dogs, chickens, and disabled father in Virginia. We have a dream to someday own our own small ranch with horses, cows, goats, chickens, and dogs to boot. Right now we are working to start our family.” She has been visiting my blog, and I have been to her’s where she has some really neat photos and recipes. I am not a cook, but the photos are super.

Faithrises nominated me for the Beautiful Blogger Award. “Faithrises is a place for readers to be encouraged and motivated, through stories, quotes, and biblical examples.  My name is Faith, and I hope that you will be uplifted and inspired here, as you rise above personal difficulties and challenging circumstances.”

Sandra Conner nominated me for the Genuine Blogger Award. Sandra has this to say about her three blogs in her About section; “So here I am, Sandra Conner, beginning the “About Me” article on my third blog site, My first blog “Hangin’ Out With God,” is a site devoted exclusively to things about the Lord Jesus Christ and ministry. My second, “Happy Patriot,” is a blog on which I feel free to comment on any number of subjects, but mostly on patriotic and political issues. And today, I embark on number three, Sandra Conner…By The Book.

Previous to those, two nominated this blog for the Versatile Blogger Award.

Beauty and Brains nominated me back in April for this Award. Her site, “Beauty & Brains” is a blog geared for anyone and everyone. The “beauty” posts concern themselves with makeup/fragrance reviews and tutorials. Please note I am not paid to review products. All products were purchased by me for me. The “brains” posts consist of reviews of books, music, films, or any other item of conversation.”

and Dou Dou also nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award. She makes “Handmade Art Birds and Animal Sculptures” and is very good at them. They appear to be right small, but nice details. She also write about other topics also.

We are suppose to tell 7 random things about ourselves and then pass them on to 7-15 other worthy bloggers. Personally, I would like to nominate all those who come to this blog and my Birds of the Bible blog for an Award. I appreciate all of you who stop by and read the articles. Many of you are following the blogs and leave likes and comments. There are more than 15 who do so. So how do you choose just a few?

Not sure what I would call it, maybe something like Thank You Award, or Thanks for Stopping By Award, Thanks For Your Support Award, or Thanks for putting up with my mistakes Award, or something like that. What ever it would be, you would all be nominated for it.

The Best Award any of us could hope to get is the “Well Done the good and faithful servant” Award from Our Lord Jesus Christ.

  1. Love you all and I do pray for all the visitors that stop by.
  2. I Love the Lord and He is my personal Savior (1960)
  3. Married almost 49 years (July 1963)
  4. Love birds and watching them and learning about them
  5. Graduated College after taking 16 years to do so (1977)
  6. I am thankful for all my family and friends
  7. Don’t have a bucket list – maybe I should

Now for the nominations. (This will be hard)

For the Reader Appreciation

All who are followers of this blog, you are nominated because you are appreciated. Not sure who started that award, but I think it needs to include more readers, which I just did.

If you chose to accept it, you are suppose to tell 7 random things about yourself, link back to this page, and then nominate who you think deserve the Reader Appreciation Award, then leave a comment on their blog or send an email with a link to the page that you nominated them.

For the Inspiring Blog Award

These sites come to mind as Inspiring:

The Fountain which is from my home church and has lots of inspiring articles on it.

Hearing His Voice – Learning to hear and recognize God’s voice

Hanging’  Out With God – A site devoted to getting up close and personal with God, through knowing and believing His Word.

The Birding Bunch – Amateur ornithologists with a Christian worldview.

Postcards from Colorado –  the joy of seeing, capturing, and sharing the images of our daily surroundings

Forest Forward – The Northeast’s Wildlife Photo Blog

The Sovereign – Living holy lives in light of prophecy and the return of Christ.

The Other Awards were written up previously.

Genuine Blogger Award Given To This Blog

Genuine Blogger Award

Genuine Blogger Award

Sandra Conner has nominated me for the “Genuine Blogger” Award. What an honor and a very nice compliment from Sandra. Here is the e-mail I received from her.

Hi, Lee.  I am writing to let you know that I have nominated you for the “Genuine Blogger” Award.  You may have already received it, but I did not see it posted on your site.  Assuming I am not mistaken, you will find the details on my site at this link: http://sandraconner.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/genuine-blogger-award/

This nomination is most “genuine” (no pun intended), because you are one of the most sincere and genuine bloggers that I’ve met on here.
I received this award myself on April 17, and I am only now getting other people nominated.  Hopefully, with my awkward computer’s cooperation, I will be able to get to nominations for the “Versatile Blogger”Award tomorrow. (Which I nominated her for.)
Blessings.  Sandra

Wow! I am overwhelmed. This is the second award received in the last few weeks. Sandra Conner is a very talented Christian Writer and produces the Sandra Conner … By The Book blog. She is looking at life from behind the pen of a Christian writer and doing a very fine job of it. She also produces her first blog “Hangin’ Out With God,” which is a site devoted exclusively to things about the Lord Jesus Christ and ministry. Her second, “Happy Patriot,” is a blog on which she feel free to comment on any number of subjects, but mostly on patriotic and political issues. Her third blog, Sandra Conner … By The Book, is where this award came from. I have enough problems keeping up with this blog and she is doing three of them. Please stop by her sites for a visit and you will be blessed.

By humility and the fear of the LORD Are riches and honor and life. (Proverbs 22:4 NKJV)

The rules for accepting this award require me to tell my readers 7 random things about myself and then, of course, pay the honor forward by nominating 7 other bloggers for the Genuine Blogger Award as well.  So many of my blogging friends already have so many awards, I will try to be sure I choose from those who do not already have this one.

Seven Random Things About Me:

  1. I am a born again Christian who accepted the Lord as my personal Savior in 1960.
  2. Dan and I are coming up on our 49th Anniversary in July.
  3. It took 16 years to finish my degree from Bob Jones University. (Slow learner)
  4. I love going birdwatching and writing for this blog.
  5. My favorite color is blue.
  6. I am the last of nine children. (and the shortest)
  7. I enjoy serving the Lord even though I grumble now and then. :0)

Now for my nominations for the Genuine Blogger Award.  All of these bloggers are people whom I consider sincere people who appreciate their opportunity to blog and be a part of the WordPress blogging community — as I do.  I’m listing them in no particular order.  There are so many that it is going to be hard to only pick seven. All of them are great, and I encourage my readers to check them out.

My Nominations for the Genuine Blogger Award:

  1. Christian Nature – See the glory of God’s nature!
  2. ajmithra21 – Combines Birds and Music – very talented Christian
  3. The Birding Bunch – Amateur ornithologists with a Christian worldview
  4. Morningjoy’s Weblog – Thoughts and photos to share with you
  5. Bill of the Birds – Editor of Bird Watcher’s Digest, but also a great blogger
  6. Ivman’s Blague – “one French and German teacher’s humorous and serious perspectives on life…”
  7. Evidence of Design – “Creation Evidence in the World of Nature”

The rules for accepting the award are pretty simple:

Post an article stating that you have been nominated and include the name and link to the blogger who nominated you.

You should also include the logo of the award on your post, and in your sidebar (or on a permanent page) so that everyone who visits your site will know that you have won the award.

Tell your readers seven random things about yourself.

Pass the honor forward by nominating seven other bloggers that you feel deserve the award. Include links to their blogs in your post.

Notify those seven bloggers that you have nominated them.

There is no time limit for passing on the award. So if you don’t know very many bloggers yet, just go ahead and post the award on your site and nominate the few that you feel fit that category.  You can always add more later after you get to know them.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16 ESV)

Remember Me – by Lizzie Palmer

I received this in an e-mail and thought it was worth repeating. This is a way of saying thanks to our military men and women. Thank You! You are remembered, loved, and prayed for by many of us.

This film was made by a 15 year old girl. It is the hottest thing on the internet and on Fox News. Lizzie Palmer who put this YouTube program together, is 15 years old. There have been over 3,000,000 hits as of this morning. In case you missed it, here it is.

Please keep our military members and veterans in our thoughts and prayers and the military of many nations. (At least the ones on the good side.)

Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. (Psalms 54:2 KJV)
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:24 KJV)
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. (1 Peter 3:12 KJV)

Birds in Hymns – O Give Thanks To Him Who Made

Black-headed Heron (Ardea melanocephala) by Lee Lowry Pk Zoo

Black-headed Heron (Ardea melanocephala) by Lee Lowry Pk Zoo

Based on:

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:3 KJV)

Words by ~ Josiah Conder (1789-1855), in The Congregational Hymn Book, 1836.
Music ~ “Dix” ~by~  Conrad Kocher, Stimmen aus dem Reiche Gottes, 1838

O Give Thanks To Him Who Made

O give thanks to Him Who made
Morning light and evening shade;
Source and Giver of all good,
Nightly sleep and daily food;
Quickener of our wearied powers,
Guard of our unconscious hours.

O give thanks to nature’s King,
Who made every breathing thing;
His, our warm and sentient frame,
His, the mind’s immortal flame.
O how close the ties that bind
Spirits to the Eternal Mind!

O give thanks with heart and lip,
For we are His workmanship;
And all creatures are His care:
Not a bird that cleaves the air
Falls unnoticed
; but who can
Speak the Father’s love to man?

O give thanks to Him Who came
In a mortal, suffering frame—
Temple of the Deity—
Came for rebel man to die;
In the path Himself hath trod
Leading back His saints to God.

This was produced by WordPress.Com and used with my permission. WordPress is a great place to have a blog. They have treated me very well and they work hard to keep their system running.

Thanks again to the Lord for His blessings on this blog. Thanks to all of you for stopping by to view this blog.
