The Implausibility of Evolution – from Creation Moments

The Implausibility of Evolution – from Creation Moments

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

If you’re a long-time listener, you know that Creation Moments does not discuss politics. That’s why today’s program focuses not on Ben Carson’s political involvements but on Dr. Carson’s courage as a scientist and world-renowned surgeon for sharing his politically incorrect views on Darwinian evolution.

The Implausibility of Evolution Ben Carson

Dr. Carson

In his book, Take the Risk, Dr. Carson makes it crystal clear that he rejects Darwinian evolution. Here is a portion of what he wrote:

“For me, the plausibility of evolution is … strained by Darwin’s assertion that within fifty to one hundred years of his time, scientists would become geologically sophisticated enough to find the fossil remains of the entire evolutionary tree in an unequivocal step-by-step progression of life from amoeba to man – including all of the intermediate species.”

Dr. Carson continues: “Of course, that was 150 years ago, and there is still no such evidence. It’s just not there. But when you bring that up to the proponents of Darwinism, the best explanation they can come up with is ‘Well … uh … it’s lost!’ Here again I find it requires too much faith for me to believe that explanation, given all the fossils we have found without any fossilized evidence of the direct, step-by-step evolutionary progression from simple to complex organisms or from one species to another species. Shrugging and saying, ‘Well, it was mysteriously lost, and we’ll probably never find it,’ doesn’t seem like a particularly satisfying, objective, or scientific response.”

Doctor Carson, we couldn’t agree more!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for scientists who take the risk of dissenting from Darwinism. I pray that You will embolden me to share the gospel and the truth of biblical creation with others. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Lee’s Addition:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:1-5 NKJV)

Like Creation Moments, this is not political. It has to do with those of us who honor Our Lord Jesus Christ, The Creator.

The Spider That Thinks It’s A Scuba Diver

“Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.” Genesis 6:20

Most spiders use their silk to make webs to catch prey. But there’s one spider that spins its silk to make a virtually waterproof sack and fills it with air bubbles so it can survive underwater for hours at a time. In fact, the air-filled sack is so efficient, it allows this air-breathing spider to live virtually its whole life a few inches below the water’s surface.

The Spider That Thinks It's a Scuba Diver

The Spider That Thinks It’s a Scuba Diver

Scientists have known about the diving bell spider for a long time. But a few years ago they discovered that this silken sack is actually able to produce its own air supply. Acting much like a fish’s gills, the finely woven sack draws oxygen from the water while letting nitrogen exit the diving bell.

Evolutionists can’t explain how the spider learned how to scuba dive and produce silk that makes the diving bell virtually waterproof. Oh, they will say what they always say – natural selection and mutations over millions of years. But creationists have no need of such far-fetched explanations.

The Creator showed His fondness for this spider by giving it what it needs to avoid predators above the water while feeding upon underwater creatures. Now, think about how much more our Creator loves each one of us. He gave us the gift of His Son, who lived a sinless life and then died as a spotless sacrifice on our behalf so we would be found holy and blameless in God’s sight through faith in Christ.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for providing such a great gift that cost You so much! I don’t deserve such a gift, but I humbly accept the love You poured out on me through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Jesus Helps Me – Book Review

Jesus Helps Me – Cover

I was contacted by Shelton Interactive on behalf of Callie Grant, the founder of Graham Blanchard, asked if I would review a children’s book by the title: Jesus Helps Me. She knew this blog is Christian based and about birds.

Jesus Helps Me is Christian and about birds. This book is another one in their Knowing My God series.

To begin with, the book is made to be handled by young children. The pages are very colorful, the photos of the bird are great. The verses are simple enough that a child can understand them, and are teaching good Biblical Truths.

As you turn the well made pages (thick, that can be handled by a youngster without tearing); they are colorful, have a bird photo and a simple description or information about the bird, and have a verse or partial verse that is spread over several pages. The page color is different each time you turn a page. That is for teaching colors to the young children.

The book is for babies, toddlers and young children. They suggested reading to babies because they thrive “just hearing your voice as you read the Bible passage in this book.” Toddlers can be shown and told about the birds and colors as a learning tool, besides the verses. As the children advance in age, they can be taught more about those verse to increase their knowledge.

Mute Swan

Mute Swan

As I was reviewing this book, besides the book teaching the little ones about verses, birds, colors, etc., I had another thought.  What a great way to start training “new birdwatchers.” And, from a Christian perspective, no less.  :)

Jesus mentioned the “little children” in many verses. In Matthew 18:2-5, Jesus taught this lesson:

“And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. (Matthew 18:2-5 KJV)”

Hannah’s Teachable Moment

Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) with youngsters by Raymond Barlow

Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) with youngsters by Raymond Barlow

I would like to share a very interesting post from, “Read the Best Books First,” called, The Teachable Moment. Hannah Hancock is a member of our church and writes a blog. But this article, The Teachable Moment is very well worth reading. She, and her husband, Cody, are in the process of adopting some children. What people may say, is what makes this article so relevant to all of us.

“The Teachable Moment

My husband and I are adopting. I don’t talk about it much here on the blog because that’s not what this particular blog is about. I enjoy reading other adoption blogs, and I’ve found a lot of helpful information by reading them and been encouraged by them too, but that’s just not what I’m about in this space.
But today, I’m “seizing the teachable moment” as some would say because I’m not very good at doing it in the actual moment.
A few weeks ago, a very sweet lady approached my husband and me to ask how the adoption was going or if we’d had any news and what the process was going to look like. This has become pretty standard fare, and most of the time, I think I’m used to it. And despite the fact that I’ve had people asking me why we don’t just have”… continue reading The Teachable Moment

Ancient Birds Flew Over Dinosaur’ Heads ~ Re-post

ANCIENT BIRDS FLEW OVER DINOSAURS’ HEADS

“And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.” Genesis 1:21

As the fierce T-Rex approaches its prey, the dinosaur is suddenly hit from above with something white that spatters on its upturned head. Yes, it’s the same kind of bird droppings that you’ll find all over your car when you park under the branches of a tree.

Ancient Birds Flew Over Dinosaurs' Heads

Ancient Birds Flew Over Dinosaurs’ Heads

What’s that again? Evolutionists have been telling us that modern-day birds evolved from dinosaurs. The two kinds of animals weren’t around at the same time, they say. But now, a report tells us that one “ancient bird’s intricate arrangement of the muscles and ligaments controlled the main feathers of its wings, supporting the notion that at least some of the most ancient birds performed aerodynamic feats in a fashion similar to those of many living birds.”

Interesting Things from Smiley CentralDr. Luis M. Chiappe, the investigation’s senior scientist, said, “The anatomical match between the muscle network preserved in the fossil and those that characterize the wings of living birds strongly indicates that some of the earliest birds were capable of aerodynamic prowess like many present-day birds.”

Of course, the research team didn’t want people to end up thinking that birds haven’t evolved over the past 125 million years, so they mentioned that the bones of the fossilized bird is “skeletally quite different from their modern counterparts.” In addition, the press release was accompanied with an artist’s rendition of the bird. To preserve the evolutionary story, the drawing shows a bird with an open beak filled with sharp teeth.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, birds and dinosaurs were created just one day apart so they lived at the same time, just as You tell us in the Bible. Thank You for the scientific evidence that is now confirming this to be true. Amen.

Komodo Dragon by Dan

Komodo Dragon by Dan

The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. (Isaiah 43:20 KJV)

And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls. (Isaiah 34:13 KJV) (bolding mine in the verses)

Those verses both have dragons (many creationist also call them dinosaurs) and owls mentioned together in the same verse. Interesting! If the scientist involved weren’t so steeped in their belief of evolution, they might realize how close to the truth they really are.

Esteemed Creationists Defend A Young Earth- Re-post

ESTEEMED CREATIONISTS DEFEND A YOUNG EARTH

Earth from NASA
“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.” Genesis 2:1-2

_

On our previous Creation Moments program, we told you about several esteemed scientists with advanced degrees who believe in biblical creation. Today I’m going to tell you what some of these scientists – and others – have said about a recent creation.

Search for the Truth

First up is Dr. Russell Humphreys, who holds a Ph.D. in physics. He said that the facts of science “support a recent creation and go strongly against the idea of billions of years which the theistic evolutionists uphold.”

Dr. Danny Faulkner, with a Ph.D. in astronomy, said he believes “the universe is 6,000 to 8,000 years old” and that “we have a very clear indication from scripture that creation took place in six ordinary days.”

Interesting Things from Smiley CentralDr. John Baumgardner, with a Ph.D. in geophysics, said this: “To make sense of the world as the Bible lays it out does not allow for millions of years but does require that there be a catastrophe which destroyed all air-breathing land life except for that preserved on Noah’s ark.”

Finally, with a Ph.D. in chemistry, Dr. Jonathan Sarfati said, “Ninety percent of the methods that have been used to estimate the age of the earth point to an age far less than the billions of years asserted by evolutionists.”

As you can see, each scientist comes from a different scientific discipline, and they all accept the Bible’s account of creation without hesitation. And there are thousands of other scientists in the U.S. and around the world who agree with them!

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I pray that You will remind Your followers that it is not shameful to believe in a recent creation. Indeed, there is no shame in believing everything that You have revealed in Your written word! Amen.

Sandra’s New Kooky Experiment

Guira Cuckoo by Dan

Guira Cuckoo by Dan

My friend, Sandra Conner, over at The Right Word Makes All The Difference, has come up with a new kooky experiment. Instead of, or in addition to, her Six Word Saturday posts, she came up with this schedule:

Now, this week, I got a really kooky idea. Why not do a post every day of the week — each day receiving its own number of words?

Monday = One-Word Post
Tuesday = Two-Word Post
Wednesday = Three-Word Post
Thursday = Four-Word Post
Friday = Five-Word Post
Saturday = Six-Word Post
Sunday = Seven-Word Post

So that’s what I’m going to do for the next three weeks. Now, I will be posting other regular posts as well, as the mood strikes me, but I’m going to challenge myself to say something relevant — or at least that means something to me — in the restricted number of words for each day.

Here is her Seven-Word Sunday – 1/24/16

She has challenged us to try to do the same for three weeks. Many times she inserts a picture along with six words on Saturdays.  I think I will take the challenge, except the photos or videos here will be, you guessed it, birds. Also, something honoring the Lord.

Since it’s late Sunday evening, I’ll give it a try. Watch for the next post.

The Amazing Mosquito Hawk Video

“Does the hawk fly by your wisdom, And spread its wings toward the south?
(Job 39:26 NKJV)

Flight is a big problem for those who believe that we owe our existence to evolution. Birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, and even some fish fly or at least glide through the air in controlled flight. So many different creatures fly that evolutionists must say that flight evolved several different times.

The dragonfly is among the best fliers in the animal kingdom. The dragonfly can beat its four wings in unison or separately depending on the maneuver it wants to make. Dragonflies can fly at speeds up to 25 miles an hour and even faster. They can hover, take off backward and even make an unbanked turn. The dragonfly eats small insects, including mosquitoes, earning it the nickname “mosquito hawk.” A dragonfly can see a gnat from three feet away, fly to it, capture it and return to its original position in just over one second! One third to one half of its body mass is made up of flight muscles. Its two eyes have a total of 60,000 lenses and are situated so that its range of vision is nearly 360 degrees.

Dragonfly by Raymond Barlow

Dragonfly by Raymond Barlow

Dragonflies not only appear in the fossil record fully formed, but in much greater variety than today. One fossilized dragonfly was the size of a crow! Even the United States Air Force has studied the dragonfly to learn how it flies. The dragonfly is no product of natural selection. It is clearly a specially designed creature whose Designer understands flight better than we do. This Designer is our Creator God.

Prayer: I thank You, dear Father, for the beauty and wonder of the dragonfly. You are truly to be glorified! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
